Natieco ensures the safety of products that are placed on the market to protect the health of consumers, through product controls and after-sales surveillance. Our expert and qualified safety assessor evaluates both the intrinsic, chemical and toxicological properties of each ingredient used, is the dosage to which the consumer is exposed during the actual use of the product so as to carry out accurate risk analysis that could be associated with the use of the latter.
Safety for human health is guaranteed by the support of numerous tests carried out on finished products. These studies are carried out under strictly controlled conditions, under the supervision of a doctor. For cosmetic products we carry out Patch tests, Stinging tests, Test tolerability and presence of heavy metals (Nickel, Lead, Chrome and Cobalt). For food supplements we carry out checks on the presence/absence of lactose and/or gluten. During the production process, in this case both at the beginning and at the end of the processing of food supplements, checks are carried out to detect the presence of gluten in industrial washing water and in environmental buffers through analytical instruments, the system is based on Lateral Flow technology.

In addition to the safety tests, we can submit the product to further testing in order to evaluate its characteristics and properties, the so-called efficacy tests, or clinical evaluations of the effectiveness and pleasantness of the product with the involvement of humans, under the supervision of specialized medical personnel. For each type of product that boasts different properties and claims, we design and implement ad hoc experimental protocols. The tests are conducted with CE marked non-invasive biomedical equipment, which allows accurate and reproducible clinical, instrumental and sensory measurements to be made. Examples of effectiveness tests on cosmetics that we carry out are the evaluation of skin hydration, the assessment of skin elasticity, water loss due to perspiration, evaluation of the effectiveness of products to combat skin imperfections, in vitro screening of antioxidant capacity.
The efficacy tests are also reproducible on food supplements according to the indications of the product that the customer would like to boast.
We promote and participate in clinical trials for the publication of scientific articles in support of patent projects.

The specific figure that deals with the Safety Assessment, as mentioned, is the Safety Assessor who is appointed by the Responsible Person in order to verify the compliance of a cosmetic product with the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and to ensure the protection of the health of the end user.
The word "gluten-free" on the label can be inserted if a product is suitable for the celiac consumer or the absence of ingredients containing gluten and guarantee of the production process within 20 ppm. The term "naturally lactose-free" may be used for foods not containing lactose ingredients to indicate that they do not contain galactose, unlike foods that are lactose-free.
It is not possible to indicate that the cosmetic is totally nickel-free since it is absolutely likely that this metal, even if trace, is present. Instead, it is correct to indicate on the label the claim "Nickel tested" which indicates that each batch of the cosmetic product placed on the market has been subjected to an experimental evaluation in order to verify the presence of technically unavoidable traces.
Cosmetovigilance is the set of activities for the collection and management of reports of undesirable effects attributable to the use of a cosmetic, carried out with the aim of facilitating post-marketing surveillance and ensuring the protection of the health of citizens. Visit our page dedicated to after-sale surveillance , you will find useful information and reporting cards.
